Overland Café is one of those fantastic neighborhood spots that are better known for its drink deals than the quality of its cuisine. That’s not to say the food isn’t good; it’s just that the drink deals are great!

Kitty Packard and I found our way to the café after a screening of THE DESCENDANTS at the holiday-shopping crazed Century City Mall and before a birthday party at Bigfoot West and we were totally excited about their ½ off all beers and wines – ALL day/night on the weekends!

Delerium beer & Cabernet Sauvignon (both $4)

This isn’t just Bud Light and house merlot – this is over 20 draught and bottled beers from $2 to $4 and 10 wines by the glass from $2.50 to $4.50. I’d never seen one of my favorite beers, Delerium Tremens for under $8, so was totally stoked to pay only $4 for it during Happy Hour! And it was draught to boot! KP went with a nice Cabernet Sauvignon for $4.

Cheeseless Vegetable Pizza ($9.49)

Gorgonzola Salad ($8.99)

And while the food isn’t on Happy Hour, the prices are a-ok. KP & I shared the Cheeseless Grilled Vegetable Pizza with yellow squash, basil, sun dried tomatoes, shitake, portobello & button mushrooms for $9.49 and the Gorgonzola Salad for $8.99. So together – a lot of food and drink only ran us $30 pre-tip. Pretty awesome!

You also have to love the scene – everything about the restaurant kind of reminds me of a neighborhood-bar restaurant from the Midwest, from its set-up in a converted ranch home to its fun music selection (two words: Christmas disco!!). I can see why the café is so popular during its Weekend Champagne Brunch which gets you all the champagne you can drink for $4.99 (with the purchase of an entrée, don’t be cheap!) – the space just lends itself to that lazy morning dining. Nothing fancy, just easy and fun.
