I don’t have a whole lot to say about happy hour at Cha Cha Lounge (not to be confused with Cha Cha Cha). There just wasn’t a whole lot going on.

Back in 2006, I visited Cha Cha Lounge on a Saturday night and the place was bumpin’. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for a Wednesday night in 2011. Located deep into Silverlake, I at least expected to see locals at this fairly spacious bar, but not much luck. Even the kitschy décor, retro vending machine, and my favorite, a photo booth wasn’t enough to bring a happy hour crowd. On my visit, there was a group of 5 or 6 people and one or two people who looked like they were waiting for their shift to start.

Lack of crowd aside, the bartender was pretty friendly. He poured a nice, full glass of cabernet ($6), maybe to kill the bottle since Cha Cha Lounge is more of a PBR crowd. Someone had told me that the well drinks ($2.50 at happy hour) are pretty stiff but since I was on a wine kick that night, I decided not to mix it up.

There’s no food served here, but you can always buy candy, like Pop Rocks or Pocky, from the vending machine or go across the street to Red Lion Tavern to get a BIG basket of fries for $3, like my friend, Pooneh, & I did.

I can only hope the place picks up on Sundays for their all night happy hour.
