It was 4 pm on a lazy, but do-gooding Sunday afternoon. My WeHo pals and I had walked dogs for the Amanda Foundation in Beverly Hills and were looking for a happy hour in West Hollywood.

The Abbey was packed like sardines and very loud, so we headed north for St. Felix to find no one (not even employees!) there. This was at 4:01 pm despite their daily 4-8 pm happy hour), so we wandered slightly eastward and found ourselves at the quieter and spacious Eleven bar where happy hour runs daily from 5 – 8 pm (on Sundays, 3 – 8 pm) and the black bathrooms are co-ed!

A group of five, we found a great outside table to people watch on the boulevard and take some afternoon sun. We ordered a combination of their drink specials – mixed well drinks for $5, bottled beers for $3, and a mimosa for $5 (thought we might have been getting a better deal on this :). From their $5 happy hour appetizer menu, Ad-bot and I shared the calamari and our friends shared the Belgian Fries (with salt & pepper seasoning and curry ketchup), and bacon-wrapped dates. The calamari was good, a small portion, but fine for $5, and the fries were delish! Vegetarian JB has no comment on the bacon-wrapped dates, but they did disappear pretty quickly if that’s any indication.

Service was good (and cute – see photo evidence of Newtown). And the bar had enough patrons to feel pleasant, but not so much you felt overcrowded. It’s obviously not a spot for a straight girl to go duck hunting, but plenty of fun for a low-key afternoon of catching up with the WeHo crowd!

Additional note – I’ve knocked .5 stars from the review for the rather confusing happy hour times and separate food deals. Wouldn’t it be more efficient to keep everything at the same time?
