UPDATE (7/5/11): Happy Hour now offered from 11pm-1am on Sunday-Thursdays!

It was Saturday and I needed to find a happy hour review to cover for this week, but knew I was going to be busy with the Turner Classic Film Festival all weekend. And unfortunately, many of the Hollywood & Highland area happy hours in my notes are all Monday - Friday. So what's a happy hour loving girl to do?! The answer this Saturday was to pay full price at 25 Degrees, who we heard had a good happy hour during the week.

So, Classic-Movie-Carley and I found our way from the madding Hollywood crowd between screenings of NORTH BY NORTHWEST and the censored and rarely seen THE STORY OF TEMPLE DRAKE. We grabbed a bar seat at the restaurant filled with other TCM Fest folks. Imagine our surprise and delight to discover that 25 Degrees' happy hour is, in fact, daily and that we had made it in time to partake in some tasty libations and edibles!!

JG & I both love 25 Degrees for dinner and drinks. The food is always perfect and priced well for the quality and portion, but the drinks can be a little on the pricier side. Welcome happy hour prices! Half-off are well drinks, beers, select wines, milkshakes (including their famous Guiness milkshake), and fries/onion rings/sweet potato fries. Also, specialty cocktails such as the French Kiss (Skyy Vodka, Chambord, and pineapple juice), Peach Blossom (Absolut Peach, Peach Schnapps, and orange juice), and May Day (Makers Mark, St. Germain, and muddled orange) are $7 (regularly $12).

Carley went for the happy hour priced $3.50 Guiness and I had the $7 French Kiss . The drinks were absolutely fine for the happy hour prices, but I have to hope that serving sizes are a bit larger for the full price – Carley's Guiness was served in a rather skinny glass and my martuni drink seemed about half-full. Like I said, this is fine for cheaper drinks, but I'd want a bigger pour for my buck at night.

And again it’s the food that 25 Degrees does right with pricing and quality. For our in-between movie snack, we shared a huge order of 1/2 sweet potato fries and 1/2 onion rings for the AWESOME price of $2!! I always joke about writing home to your mom about good deals, but for real, that's some write home to your mom kinda shit!

I’m not quite sure where I came upon the idea that 25 Degrees’ happy hour was only M-F, their website actually states that it’s daily! I’d always been a bit annoyed at the 3-6 non-weekend happy hour as I could never make it, but I’m so excited to add this as a nearby weekend happy hour destination now! Go 25 Degrees!!

(My Mom never told me not to play with my food!)

  1. LOVE THIS PLACE! I love the atmosphere, and I can walk from my apartment! The sweet potato fries & burgers are really yummy. But the cocktails (not happy hour) are a little too expensive for me. Glad to know they have happy hour during the weekend, too! I'll have to check it out! Thanks girls :) xox
