The first time this J walked into Rocco’s Tavern, it was so filled with testosterone that I walked out and called for a friend to come out to escort me in. However, this J is never one to mind a place where men outnumber the ladies; so when we learned that Rocco’s Tavern had a happy hour, I was glad to take the case.
Rocco’s features a 3-7pm happy hour where all drinks are 2-for-1. Don’t be fooled by the happy hour menu that only lists beer & wine. All drinks are 2-for-1. If ordering a well drink, you’re given the option of ordering one large/double drink or two separate drinks. I sampled a double shot cranberry & vodka, but I must say nothing tasted double about it except for the cranberry. I can vouch that the cabernet that was fresh, a rare occurrence in a sports bar.Unfortunately, Rocco’s does not offer deals on food during happy hour. We would have liked to see at least some deals on appetizers. Buzzed people = hungry people. The prices are still pretty good so my party ate anyway. My
friends weren’t thrilled with their Grilled Chicken Breast Hero, even going as far to ask the waitress when it was cooked due to it’s lack of juiciness. However, my other friend enjoyed his pepperoni pizza and I the Housemade Meatball Parmegian Hero, complete with a side of sauce.Rocco’s is definitely a place worth a visit for socializing. We saw lots of groups here and two of our friends scored digits on another visit. This is also a great place to catch a game. There are many flat screens indoors and a wall projection for those sitting on the patio. It’s great to see people that come here solo for a beer & game actually do that and not try to leach on our party, as many a weirdo has tried at other places …and sure to end up in another post!
