On a recent trip to the
Century City mall, JB & I hit up Rock Sugar’s happy hour before getting down to official happy hour business.

Wanna know what that business is? Come on out for our Holiday Happy Hour Tour taking place on Sunday, December 12th… and make sure to RSVP
HERE!

But, I digress.

JB & I made it just in time for the last 30 minutes Rock Sugar’s Rocktail Hour. Every day from 4-6:30pm, shoppers &
boozers alike can come in for delicious cocktails and Pan-Asian Rock Bites. For cocktails, I was torn between the Blood Orange Mojito and the Sake Drago, both $6. I settled on the Blood Orange Mojito, made with Barcardi Superior Rum, Blood Orange and Mint. JB had the Orchard Road Martini (also $6), made of vodka, rum, St. Germain Liquer (which is quickly becoming a favorite drink ingredient of mine!), lemongrass, and hibiscus. We sampled each other drinks and we both definitely had an appreciation for the drink sizes and the flavor variety. While I always love a house wine or even a well cranberry & vodka, it’s always nice to get a well made cocktail that doesn’t run in the double digits.
For food, I ordered the Chicken & Mushroom Lettuce Wraps ($4.50). It’s my favorite appetizer at other restaurants so I had to try it at Rock Sugar. The wraps were every bit as delicious as I thought they would be. My only wish is that the lettuce was leafier so that I could actually make a wrap, not a scoop. JB was pleased to find a couple of veggie options on the menu so she ordered the Vegetarian Flatbread with a nice red curry sauce ($3).

It was good thing that we arrived at happy hour when we did because by the time we finally received our one round of drinks and 2 appetizers, happy hour was nearly over. It took quite the army of people to get our order to us (seriously, no less than five different servers brought our items to us at different times) but at least I can say that the wait was worth it. Next time, I may sit closer to the kitchen & bar so I can grab the goods as soon as they’re ready.
