I’ve been to Café La Boheme’s Happy Hour a couple of times now and I gotta say, I kinda dig it. The food deals are really good, the drinks are all right too, and the open-space restaurant and bar are really quite plush and lovely. It’s one of those places that I visit and think to myself, hmmm… I should come here more often! But that’s the breaks when your side-hustle is checking out happy hours for the greater good J – you’re always trying something new and rarely have time to re-visit old haunts. And if you’re like me and trying to watch your figure and your budget, you might only be allotted so many happy hours per month – just enough to review, but not enough to get cozy and familiar with fav spots.
But I digress! Let’s talk La Boheme! From 5-7pm every day, it’s half-off all “Fun Bites” and sandwiches and $4-5 for select drinks. House Martinis are $7 round the clock and I’ve personally experimented with the Earth Goddess (Veev Acai Spirit, Pomrai pomegranate liquer, and sweet & sour) and the Chandelier (a lemon drop kinda martini with Limoncello). Both were somewhat tasty, but I switched to red wine thereafter and enjoyed that just as much!
As for the ½ off-food menu, I was surprised that I wasn’t as wild about the Grilled Veggie Sandwich with the mouth-watering ingredients of eggplant, zucchini, red onion, roasted pepper, goat cheese, and pesto, and the phenomenal price of $5 during Happy Hour. The one time I did order the sandwich it tasted a little dry – maybe a nice side of mustard would do it up right? The sandwich is served with La Boheme’s delicious shoe-string fries, which are also part of the Fun Bites menu at $3. Other tried and true Fun Bites options include Fried Calamari for $4 and Vegetable Spring Rolls with house plum sauce, and Chinese mustard sauce for $4. Un-tried but tasty sounding items include Barbecue Duck Quesadilla for $6, Chicken Kara Age (Japanese style fried chicken) for $4, Four Cheese Mac & Cheese for $8, and a Cheese Board for $7.
So – good drinks, good food – and like I said before, the place is really pretty inside (if my photos can do any justice!) and there’s always a fair number of people there, without the space ever seeming too loud. The verdict: La Boheme is a great spot to meet up with friends or a date during happy hour!
Note: JG has heard reports that it’s more of a date spot than somewhere to meet swinging singles and now that I think of it, she’s heard right.

  1. Picky, like ridiculously picky, aren't you? You should not consider your opinions a contribution to society but a demonstration of your absurd and unrealistic preferences and your ability to bitch about nothing.
