M-F, 4-7 pm, $4 Margaritas ($15 pitchers), $3 Cervezas, $1.50 - $4.50 select appetizers, + Monday = $3 margaritas all night!!

I don’t know why, but I had a different impression of what Marix was going to be like. For some reason, I was expecting something a little less, well... West Hollywood. Silly JB! Ya’ll know I love the WeHo crowd, but I think I was anticipating a little Friday night men-folk fun and that just wasn’t the case at Marix’ 4-7 pm happy hour, served at the intimate bar & patio settings to largely a gay crowd (which goes without saying, a fun crowd!).

Kitty P. wondering "where the boys are..."

And the happy hour is pretty great – more like a restaurant with good food deals than a bar with same old, same old (eg mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, garlic fries, etc). Kitty Packard & I had taken a leisurely stroll from the office, cutting through some cozy residential streets, arriving at 6-ish. As the inside bar seating was full, we took up residence at an outside table, with vinyl cow-hide table-cloth (weird deco, but maybe Tex-Mex?!).

We went for dos $15 margarita pitchers, an order of guacamole at $3 and then some fantab nachos (no meat added) for $4.50, as well as complimentary chips and salsa. The food was all kind of delicious as were the margaritas, which were pretty pitch-perfect.

JG loves hitting Marix for dinner where she loves the crab enchiladas… and the margaritas, of course. And after this visit, I’d love to come back for a real meal, the food was really something! Maybe on a Monday night when I can enjoy $3 margaritas all night (with designated driver, of course!)

Speaking of which, it’s worth noting that JG once left her car in the valet after one boozy night. Rather than tow her car or charge a crazy amount, she was able to pick up her car with absolutely no problems in the morning. Now, if more establishments (or the very least, the large pay lots) would let people do this, drinking and driving may not be such a big problem here.
