Completely candid, I’ll eat about anything (or would before I went vegetarian :), but the one food I haven’t ever gotten crazy about is sushi. I’ve learned to enjoy it over time – especially anything fried up in tempura and then rolled with cream cheese. Luckily, there’s a nice little sushi joint in an unassuming strip mall by the office that offers up swell sushi deals (both tempura-cream cheese rolls and more healthy fare!) along with giganto-sized Asahi beers for
$5 apiece.
The servers are nice, the sushi chefs are quick, and the happy hour offers a variety of deals from $1 miso soup to $2 edamame to $5 sesame chicken bowl to $5 Shrimp Tempura Crunch Roll and $7 sashimi and more. Guess which one I had?! House wine and hot sake are $4 while the aforementioned giganto Asahi is $5.
The vibe inside is like a nice low-key date-type restaurant – so cozy you wouldn’t really imagine you’re sitting inside a strip mall that also features a McDonald’s that I’ve always felt offers a microcosm look inside a mental institution. Not that it stops me from getting my iced coffees there, of course!

Would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area and looking for a fair-priced sushi happy hour that’s not too loud. Just don’t come by on Sunday if you’re looking for a happy hour – apparently they don’t offer it then. Seems a little strange, Sunday is a great day for happy hour!
