Taste is kinda the bomb. Well, in truth-telling mode, we actually can hardly ever make their happy hour - 4-6 pm, but as an @ILoveTaste twitter follower, we were excited by their all day happy hour special using the code word(s) "Happy Hump Day." This J already had plans to meet up with her old college pal, KG, and was excited about Taste's tweet - they were a nice equidistant match-up for us. Great pick, KG and I caught up on everything from work, play, the Grinder iPhone app (certainly a future G&T4TS subject!) over dangerously delicious cocktails and appetizers.We tried the wonderful St. Germain martini (champagne, St. Germain Liqueur, Vodka, Splash Soda, and Fresh Raspberry), which KG so astutely observed tasted exactly how you might expect an electric pink drink to taste! We also had the calamari, pomme frites, and KG got the margherita pizzetta, delish, delish, and delish. The specials are great – select specialty cocktails go for $6, well drinks and wines by the glass are $4, beer is $3, and the appetizers cost between $3.50 and $5.
The location is very cool and pretty quiet for being near the busy intersection of Melrose and
La Cienega. Our server was excellent – always around when we needed him, good for recommendations, etc. Unfortunately, the happy hour timing is pretty lame during the work-week for us working HH-fans of Los Angeles. And for that, Taste, we can only give you…Rating: 3.5 Martinis (but we want to give you more!)
