This East-Side of We-Ho bar-restaurant offers some pretty tasty southern-fried eats and fair-priced drinks to match! At the location formerly occupied by Cha-cha-cha, Baby Blues has the feeling of a restaurant on its way to becoming a nation-wide (or at least West coast) chain, which makes sense as the original Baby Blues BBQ in Venice has expanded to include this outlet and one in San Francisco. The decor is authentic and equally southern-fried - mismatched antique chairs that somehow work, classic country rock and sports wall art – BBBBQ feels like a sports bar (and better lit) version of House of Blues.
Baby Blues is divided into two sections, restaurant to the right and bar to the left. Happy hour takes places at the bar area every Monday - Friday from 1-8 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12-4 pm. Here, you can catch a variety of sporting events on several big screen tvs or catch up with a friend at a tall circular table. Well drinks, beer, and wines by the glass go for a mere $3.00 and select southern themed appetizers like fried green tomatoes, chicken wings, and hush puppies will run you $5.00 each.
We drank draft Blue Moon and sampled the fried green tomatoes and sweet potatoes fries, a divine carb overload if there ever was one. On our visit, the bartender appeared to be the waiter for the bar area as well, which slowed service a little bit, but he was a swell, charming guy and we weren't in too much of a hurry.
What is not to love with the extra-long happy hours, cool décor, and awesome prices?
PS - JB doesn't have anything against the Phillies and is not making fart noises, she's just emulating her icon, JC on the wall behind her!
