In order to enjoy happy hour at The Cat & Fiddle, you need an instruction manual or color-coding to know where to sit and where to order.

First, skip through the courtyard because happy hour drinks are only issued at the bar indoors. Second, if you want to sit outdoors, you may only sit at a table if ordering food and drinks. Planning to get a bunch of appetizers? Doesn't matter. Food at this establishment is only defined by entrees. No small plates here. The good news is that Monday through Thursday, they offer an $8 entrée special. We picked Monday for the fish & chips. Third, even if you are ordering entrees at an outdoor table, you still must go indoors to order happy hour drink specials. Everyone is nice when explaining all these details. It's just a lot to take in.

Please note: we were sober when we wrote all the above info.

We avoided some confusion by scoring one of the three benches outdoors, ordering indoors, and ordering food from a server. Once, we got it down, it's not a bad deal.

You just gotta know before you go.

On Saturdays, 11:30am - 3:30pm, there is a special of half-off burgers and Budweiser on the patio. We haven't checked it out yet, but it may be less confusing and easier parking than the weekday happy hour.

"Should I Stay or Should I Go" note: The Cat & Fiddle has hosted some of the most fun weekend nights we've had in Hollywood - patio drinking with a great talkative mix of strangers from all walks of life. For a non-happy hour night-time visit, call ahead to find out if there's a cover for the night - another confusing item as arbitrary as their seating assignments!
